Material Structure Recommendation
Tea products usually require moisture protection, oxygen barrier, aroma retention, and light protection. For loose leaf tea and herbal tea, common material structures include PET/VMPET/PE, PET/AL/PE, Kraft/PET/PE, and transparent PET/PE structures depending on the packaging goal.
If the pouch includes a clear window, the window area should use transparent food-grade film so customers can see the tea leaves inside. If stronger light and oxygen protection are required, metalized or aluminum foil structures can be considered, but these materials are not transparent and may limit window design.
The final material structure should be confirmed based on tea type, shelf-life target, window design, storage conditions, filling weight, and customer budget.

Thickness Reference
For tea pouches, common total thickness is usually around 120–150 microns depending on pouch size, filling weight, barrier needs, and material structure.
For lightweight tea packaging around 100g–250g, a 120–140 micron structure is commonly used as a reference. For larger tea bags, premium products, stronger barrier requirements, or export shipping, the thickness may be increased to around 140–160 microns.
Thickness should not be selected only by product weight. Tea leaf shape, aroma sensitivity, window design, zipper position, sealing width, and storage environment should also be considered.
Surface Finish & Printing
Tea brands often use packaging to communicate quality, origin, flavor profile, and brand positioning. Matte finish is commonly used for premium tea packaging because it creates a softer and more natural shelf appearance. Glossy finish can make colors look brighter, while kraft paper laminate can support organic, handmade, or natural-style branding.
For low MOQ projects, digital printing can support small-batch custom tea packaging and multiple SKU testing. For larger production runs, gravure printing can provide stable color performance and better cost efficiency.
Clear Window Design Notes
A clear window helps customers see the tea leaves directly and can increase trust in product quality. However, the window should be placed carefully to avoid zipper areas, sealing edges, and high-stress folding zones.
For tea products that need stronger protection from light, a smaller window or no-window design may be recommended. For products where visual display is important, a vertical window can create strong shelf appeal while still keeping enough printable space for branding.
