Why We Ask More Than Just Pouch Size
A pouch size is only one part of a custom packaging quote. Before we suggest a pouch, we usually need to know what goes inside, how much it holds, and what the bag needs to do.

Why We Ask More Than Just Pouch Size
A small food brand once sent us a very short message:
“Can you quote a 10 × 15 cm pouch?”
That sounds simple.
And yes, size helps.
But in custom pouch packaging, size alone does not tell us enough.
The same pouch size can be used for tea, powder, snacks, coffee, pet treats, or samples.
From the outside, the bag may look almost the same.
But what the bag needs to do can be very different.
That is why we usually ask a few more questions before quoting.
Same size, different job
A pouch for loose leaf tea may need space and moisture protection.
A pouch for coffee may need a valve.
A pouch for snacks may need a zipper.
A pouch for powder may need clean sealing.
A pouch for liquid needs a completely different structure.
For example, a 10 × 15 cm pouch for tea may only need a simple zipper and moisture barrier. But the same size for coffee may need a valve, and the same size for powder may need better sealing control.
So if we only quote by size, the price may come quickly.
But it may not be the right price for your product.
🟢 Same pouch size, different packaging needs:
✅ Tea may need more space
✅ Coffee may need a valve
✅ Powder needs clean sealing
✅ Snacks often need a zipper
✅ Liquid needs leak-resistant structure

What we usually ask first
We know these questions may feel like extra steps, but they usually save time later.
Before talking about price, we usually want to know what goes inside the pouch.
Not because we want to make the process difficult.
It is because the product decides the pouch.
🟢 What we usually need to know:
✅ What product goes inside?
✅ How much goes into one pouch?
✅ Does it need a zipper?
✅ Do you want a clear window?
✅ Do you need a valve, spout, or hang hole?
✅ How many pieces per design?
These small details help us avoid suggesting the wrong structure.
Weight matters too
A pouch for 50g and a pouch for 500g are not the same.
A heavier product may need stronger film, wider sealing, or better bottom support.
And some products are light but bulky.
Loose leaf tea is a good example.
100g of loose leaf tea may take much more space than 100g of powder.
So when we ask about filling weight, we are not trying to slow things down.
We are trying to make sure the pouch actually fits the product.
Quantity per design is important
This is another detail that gets missed often.
A customer may say:
“We need 3,000 bags.”
But if there are 10 designs, that means 300 bags per design.
That is very different from 3,000 bags of one design.
For small runs and many SKUs, digital printing may be more practical.
For larger repeat orders, gravure printing may make more sense.
So when asking for a quote, it helps to tell us the quantity for each design.
What helps us quote better?
But these details are useful:
🟢 Before asking for a quote, prepare:
✅ Product type
✅ Filling weight or volume
✅ Bag size, if you already have one
✅ Quantity per design
✅ Number of SKUs
✅ Zipper / window / valve / spout needs
✅ Current pouch photo, if available
✅ Artwork status
Even a quick phone photo of your current pouch can save a lot of guessing.

A simple way to start
You can simply tell us:
“This is my product. This is how much I want to pack. This is the kind of pouch I’m thinking about.”
That is enough to begin.
So yes, size matters.
But size is only one part.
🟢 A quick photo helps too
If you already have a pouch, send us a simple phone photo.
Front, back, side, or filled pouch photos are all useful.
It does not need to look perfect. We just want to understand the product, size, and filling condition faster.
We can help check the pouch style, material, and printing option from there.
